I came across this site while doing some research for a story I’m working on for an adult ed writing class. I was looking for some facts and inspiration for my story’s “hero”, a mining engineer from Michigan Tech in Houghton, MI. Forbes Wilson’s and Tim Flannery’s book also gave me much info on Freeport and Irian Jaya. It’s interesting to read about the fond memories experienced by the residents of Tembagapura. Matt Bleakley has accepted a job offer with Computalog as an MWD/LWD Field Engineer. The first 6 to 12 months will pay less than the other job he was checking out, but he’s looking at grossing a little over $60,000 his first year. Hopefully, Matt says, within 3 to 6 months I’ll be heading out to Indonesia live (working all over Southeast Asia, the Pacific, and Australia). If all goes as planned, he should be making 6 figures within three or four years (so start looking forward to a family reunion in Sydney - especially if he gets a sailboat down there). He’s staying Tulsa through the end of this month and then either heading up to Heather’s place in Indiana to drop off a lot of his stuff or just straight down to Houston. I would love to hear from anyone that was in Tembags when we were there. Kendra and Lucas is my son and daughter. now. Kendra is graduating from college on May 19 and Lucas is married and has a little son 7 months old.Has anyone heard from Rick Carson? He was a school teacher at IMS when we were in Tembags. Would love to hear from anyone…
